First Parent Meeting

  • Meeting should take place as soon as teams are formed.
  • Select a Team Manager
  • Collect a small photo for player passes.
  • Equipment needs (duffle bag, soccer shoes, soccer ball, shin guards, water bottle, mouth guard (optional) and uniform.  Emphasize to parents that every player needs to have their white uniform shirt at every game in case they are required to change uniform shirts in the event the other team has a uniform color close to ours, i.e. red.
  • Practice times and locations.
  • Tournaments and costs

Team Manager Duties
It is the Team Manager's role to handle the administrative duties of the team and to be the focal point for communications between the parents and the coach.

Initial Parent Team Meeting: Each team needs to have an initial/first meeting in which the coach can become acquainted with all of the parents. A team manager needs to be selected.

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide a team roster with names, addresses, phone numbers and parent's names to all players.
  • Collect player photos, laminate MYSA player passes for each player.  Include an identification card attached to the ring in case passes are lost!
  • Provide printed practice and game schedules, and distribute any other communications as may be necessary during the season.
  • Register for District/State Tournaments.

Tournaments:
PROCEDURE FOR REGISTERING FOR TOURNAMENTS:  Once you determine the tournament fees for each player, you need to collect payment by check payable to FLSA (Forest Lake Soccer Association).  Once you have collected all tournament fees in full, you must contact the Treasurer (Randi Bildeaux rlbildeaux@imation.com ) to turn the checks into her and get reimbursement.  Once you receive reimbursement you can then register for the tournaments your team has decided to do.   If paying for a tournament by credit card, please be sure to make a copy of the on-line registration receipt to turn in for reimbursement.

District-State Tournament Registration:  Please pay close attention to registration deadline.  Failure to meet the deadline will result in your team not participating in the end of the season tournaments.

Uniforms: The club organizes the uniform purchase and will be distributed at the season kickoff picnic.

Home/Away Games Reschedule
Please follow this link to follow game reschedule instructions.   You will also receive this information with your game schedule at the beginning of the season.     http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/membership/reschedule.pdf

  • Remember to keep your team updated with the scheduling changes.

Photo Submittal and Team Information for Press Release

We want to submit and have published great team and player information and photos — on and off the field year ‘round.  Please follow the requirements below of what we need:  (Failure to provide all required information only delays press release submittal).

Email your team and/or player information & photo(s):

1)       Include in Subject line of submittal email the basic info:
Example:   Subject:    U11 C3 Girls Blaine Tournament Jul 22     or      U11 C2 Boys John Smith MYSA MVP Award

2)      In body of email include:
   a.
Coach contact info:  email & phone number.
   b.
Information in detail please.  We will edit.  If photos are available but not when the info is submitted please note:  Photos available.

3)      Photos Submitted:
   a.
Game, Date, Score per photo (other team name, date of game, if it was in a tournament-what is the name of the tournament & where held).
   b.  Names of the players in the photo for each photo submitted.

   c.

Who took photo (example: photo submitted by parent, photo submitted by coach).  Photos are normally submitted as FLSA submission, not with photo creditsIf it is a professional photo we need to know if we need direct permission to submit and photographer’s name & contact information.

Please keep in mind:

  • Newspapers want game action photos that are clear with the name(s) of the team players appearing in the photo.  Not team photos normally.
  • Newspapers want to see different players.  Do not submit the same player from different games and no other players – get photos of different players when possible.
  • Encourage parents to email coach with a few good action photos of players.
